Lisa Luciano's path into transcription was sparked by a conversation with a friend in 2001, arriving at just the right moment after fifteen years building a career in mortgage lending. What began as an introduction quickly became a calling. In early 2002, Lisa made a bold and deliberate decision, leaving her position in financial services to dedicate herself fully to transcription. It was the kind of leap that requires both confidence and conviction, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions she ever made.

She wasted no time establishing herself as someone the field could take seriously. In 2003, just a year after making the transition, Lisa earned her certification as an Agency Transcriber through the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts, one of the most rigorous credentialing pathways available to court transcriptionists. Two years later, in 2005, she achieved the even more advanced designation of Agency Director/Transcriber, also through the NJ AOC. That same year she earned her AAERT Certified Electronic Transcriber credential, making 2005 a landmark year in a career already defined by forward momentum. She has since added her Certified Digital Reporter designation, further deepening a professional profile that remains among the most credentialed in the country.

In 2013, Lisa joined forces with her colleague Ilene Watson to co-found Access Transcripts, LLC. From the beginning, Lisa was in the thick of everything. Her role was never just one thing. She transcribed and proofread, managed workflow and onboarding, handled marketing, accounting, tax preparation, and government reporting, and built and led a team with the same steady hand she had developed across two very different careers. She takes genuine pride in what Access Transcripts has become, and in the sustained growth that reflects years of hard work, careful management, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Lisa's investment in the profession goes well beyond her own agency. She has been an active and enthusiastic presence in the AAERT community for years, participating in Executive Forums and Annual Conferences, contributing to the Professional Development Committee, and bringing both her expertise and her energy to every table she sits at. Today, Lisa serves on the AAERT Executive Board, a role she approaches with the same enthusiasm and dedication that has defined every chapter of her career.

It was that long view of the profession, and a deep awareness of how much harder the road is without guidance, that drew Lisa to co-found Access Transcripts Professional Development, LLC alongside Ilene. She knows what it takes to start from scratch, to build credibility in a specialized field, and to grow a practice that stands the test of time. Through Access Transcripts Pro, she is committed to making that journey a little clearer, a little less lonely, and a great deal more supported for everyone who comes after her.

Outside of her professional life, Lisa lives in Landing, New Jersey with her husband. Her favorite adventures take her far from home, traveling to visit her daughter and son-in-law who live abroad and her son in Manhattan. When she is closer to home, Lisa can be found knitting, crocheting, reading, tending her garden, or spending time with friends. For Lisa, the miles are always worth it, and so is the time spent close to the people she loves.

Ilene Watson's path into court transcription began in 2001, born out of a desire to do two things at once: build a career and be present for her young family. She had always loved to type, and when she discovered transcription, it felt less like a job choice and more like a natural calling.

She didn't arrive in legal transcription overnight. Like many who find their way to the courtroom, Ilene worked her way through the field methodically and deliberately, beginning with insurance transcription, moving into financial, and eventually finding her home in legal. Each step sharpened her ear, deepened her accuracy, and built the foundation of expertise she brings to every transcript she produces today.

In 2008, Ilene earned her Certified Electronic Transcriber designation from AAERT, a milestone that formalized what she had already spent years developing in practice. She has since added her Certified Electronic Reporter and Certified Digital Reporter credentials, making her one of a select group of transcriptionists in the country to hold all three designations. Five years after earning her first certification, in 2013, she and her longtime colleague Lisa Luciano co-founded Access Transcripts, LLC, turning their shared experience into a professional agency that has grown steadily ever since.

Ilene's commitment to the profession extends well beyond her own practice. She currently serves as Chair of the AAERT Professional Development Committee and volunteers on multiple additional AAERT committees, contributing her time and expertise to shape the future of the field at the organizational level. She is also a proud graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, an intensive business education initiative that equips entrepreneurs with the tools and strategies to grow and sustain thriving businesses. In 2022, her peers recognized her dedication and contributions by naming her AAERT Professional of the Year, one of the field's most meaningful honors.

Ask Ilene what she loves most about court transcription, and she'll give you two answers. The first is the work itself. There is something uniquely captivating, she says, about being a fly on the wall for real court cases, following them from opening to close, hearing every argument, every witness, every moment as it unfolds. The second is the life the work makes possible. The autonomy. The flexibility. The ability to do meaningful, skilled work entirely on her own terms.

At Access Transcripts, Ilene has brought that same energy and commitment to the business itself. She led the development of the company's new website and online store, created and executed marketing campaigns that expanded the agency's reach, and played a central role in driving the consistent year-over-year growth that Access Transcripts has achieved since its founding. For Ilene, building the business has been every bit as rewarding as the work that started it all.

When Ilene thinks about the early years of her career, she remembers the uncertainty, the searching for answers that did not exist yet, and the hours spent figuring things out alone that might have taken minutes with the right guidance. It is a place where court transcriptionists at every stage of their journey can find the support, the feedback, and the mentorship that the field has long needed. For Ilene, this work is not separate from her career. It is the natural extension of it, a way of ensuring that the profession she loves continues to grow, attract talented people, and hold itself to the highest possible standard.

Outside of her work, Ilene lives in Fishers, Indiana with her husband. She is the proud mother of three grown children and spends her time away from the keyboard enjoying crochet, getting lost in a good book, and making memories with the family that inspired her career in the first place.
